Childhood memory flashes back as a quick fix for sandwiches or with steamed rice drizzled with Ketjap Manis. Quick and healthy meal when you are starving and there is nothing else in the pantry. There must be more fun ways to eat this! So I called and invited Pepe, one of the sexy chefs at el Willy to my kitchen to try out some recipes together (and to sharpen my less than sharp knives
).

SPINACH SALAD WITH SARDINES 沙丁鱼菠菜沙拉
INGREDIENTS 原料
Lemon Vinaigrette 柠檬料汁
2/3 cup Extra virgin olive oil 特级初榨橄榄油
1/3 cup Fresh Lemon Juice 新鲜柠檬汁
Salt and freshly ground black peper to taste 适量盐和现磨黑胡椒
Salad 沙拉
1x Romaine Lettuce, roughly chopped
1颗生菜,切粗丝
2 Sardines, halved and deboned
2条沙丁鱼,切开并去骨
Baby Spinach; a handful
1把小菠菜
Tomatoes on a vine; 2-4 tomatoes cut in four
2-4颗小番茄,切成四瓣
Kalamata Olives; 4 unpitted and sliced
4颗Kalamata橄榄,去核并切开
Instructions
Whisk oil and lemon juice in a bowl to emulsify; season to taste with salt and pepper.
Place spinach and romaine leaves in a bowl, drizzle lemon vinaigrette, toss to combine.
Finish plating the salad by topping it with tomatoes and sardines.
Add extra vinaigrette if needed.

1 将油和柠檬汁放入一个碗中混合均匀,撒入适量盐和胡椒,制成柠檬料汁

Pan fry sardines and add as protein to your salad of choice

NOTE: Sardines is a great source of protein to any salad. Add straight from can or pan fry it for extra flavor and texture.
小贴士:沙丁鱼是很好的蛋白质来源,可以加入到任何沙拉中。你可以打开罐头后把沙丁鱼直接添加到沙拉中,也可以稍微煎一下来增添更多的风味和口感。
SARDINES ON TOAST 沙丁鱼烤吐司

INGREDIENTS 原料
1 Burata, finely chopped 1份Burata奶酪切碎
1 Tomato, finely chopped 1颗番茄切丁
Fresh basil leaves, sliced 新鲜罗勒叶切碎
2 red piparra or piquillo pepper, halved 2颗皮奎洛红椒,切半
Any toast or toasted sourdough bread 烤吐司
Sardines, halved and deboned 沙丁鱼,切半并去骨
Instructions
Combine Burata, tomato and basil, to form as a gooey 'sauce'.
Spread this gooey sauce on toast or bread
Place piparra on top with the deboned sardines as finishing touch and serve immediately.

1 将奶酪碎、番茄丁和罗勒碎混合,制成酱料
2 将酱料涂抹在烤吐司上
3 在顶部放上沙丁鱼,撒适量胡椒,立即开始享用!


PEPE'S SPICY PASTA WITH SARDINES Pepe's 特色鲜辣沙丁鱼意面

INGREDIENTS (serves 1 hungry person) 原料(1人份)
Olive oil 橄榄油
2 Sardines, halved and deboned 2条沙丁鱼,切半并去骨
4 Tomatoes, finely chopped 4颗番茄,切丁
2 Piparra pepper, finely chopped (Harissa paste is another option)
2个Piparra辣椒,切碎
Sea salt flakes 海盐
Freshly ground black pepper 现磨黑胡椒
Spaghetti or linguine, cook a minute less than instructed and put aside. Keep some pasta water to add to sauce. 意大利面,比建议烹饪时长少煮1分钟,并保留少许面汤用来制作酱汁
Fresh basil leaves 新鲜罗勒叶
Instructions
Cook pasta of choice in a large pan of boiling salted water according to pack instructions. You like it to be al dente, cook it 1 minute less than instructed.
Heat olive oil in a large saucepan.
Pan fry Sardines, one minute on each side on high heat. Put aside.
Heat olive oil in a large saucepan.
Add tomatoes and piparra pepper on medium heat.
Add salt and pepper to season.
Once fragrant add the pasta, reduce the heat.
Toss pasta in the tomato sauce and add some of the pasta water so the sauce doesnt dry out.
Serve immediately, top with some basil leaves and enjoy!
做法
1 按照烹饪说明来煮意大利面,但少煮1分钟,这样能保持面的最佳口感。
2 在锅中加热橄榄油。
3 将沙丁鱼每面用大火各煎1分钟,备用。
4 在锅中再次加热橄榄油。
5 用中火加热番茄丁和辣椒碎。
6 加入适量盐和胡椒。
7 炒出香味后加入煮好的意大利面,改成小火。
8 翻炒意大利面与酱汁混合,并加入少许面汤以防止干锅
9 在顶部装饰上罗勒叶,开始享用!
