“Duanwujie”, known in English as the Dragon-Boat Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar.

According to one of the legends, Dragon Boat Festival is held in memory of Qu Yuan. He was a poet and loyal minister in ancient times and drowed himself in a river: as his country was conquered, he didn’t want to be considered a traitor.

The festival is best known for its dragon-boat races, especially in southern regions of China, where there are many rivers and lakes. It is very popular.

People enjoy eating rice dumplings (“zongzi”) during the festival. They are made of glutinous rice, meat and so on, wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. You can find these rice dumplings in a wide range of flavors.

Perfume sachets are also a traditional craft made during this Festival.

The sachets are the symbol of good luck, worn on the body or hung to ward off bad spirits and also insects. It’s also said that especially children wear those perfume sachets to avoid devils.

They can be made of cloth, ribbon, or paper; it is often filled in with traditional Chinese medicine or aromatized herbs, such as mugwort, realgar, mint and wormwood.

At our atelier, you can use our lovely wax fabrics little pouch and fill with lavender from France to make your own perfumed sachet. You will be showed how to design, cut and sew, and you will be able to choose your own perfumes. It will be very interesting to learn how to make it, and keep it with you or offer it to your family, presenting your best wishes.

During those workshops, you will be able to purchase kids DOUCÉA skincare and MAISON KARAK clothes, we will donate the profit to HEART to HEART association.

端午节，又叫龙舟节，是中国农历的五月初五。人们总是吃粽子和赛龙舟来庆祝它。端午节是为了纪念屈原。他是楚国的一个大臣，当楚国被侵略的时候，为了表达自己的爱国之情，投河自尽。

这个节日最出名的是龙舟赛，特别是在有着充足河流和湖泊的南方，是很受欢迎的一项节日活动。

端午节当天，人们喜欢吃粽子，粽子是用糯米和肉等做成的,用竹叶或芦苇叶包裹，有不同口味的粽子。

还有一个习俗就是挂香包。香包即代表着好运，也可以驱邪和驱蚊虫。制作香包的材料可以是布料、绸缎或纸，里面放入中国的传统中草药或一些带香味的草叶，例如蒿叶、雄黄、 薄荷和艾草。据说，尤其是小孩子在端午节这天佩戴，可以驱走身边的不祥之物。

在我们的工坊，您可以用蜡染布和来自法国普罗旺斯的薰衣草，亲手制作一个香包。我们会教您从设计、剪裁、缝制开始，到如果选择适合自己的香料。自己亲手制作一个香包一定非常有趣且有意义，制作好后，您可以随身佩戴，也可以赠送给亲人朋友，带给他们最美好的祝福。

What is heart to heart association?

Heart to Heart is a Shanghai-based charity which provides corrective surgery for Chinese children from all over China with congenital heart defects (CHD) whose parents are unable to afford the surgery.
