This is self-awareness.


The Importance of Developing Self-awareness For Children


Self-awareness is a crucial factor to success. It has been classified as one of the top ten life skills by WHO. It may include people skills, career development or the happiness level of living a holistic lifestyle. It is simple but not easy. It is part of life’s process and there is no end to it.


In reality, you may discover that many grown ups lack self-awareness, which creates social issues. In this case, why and how can we expect our children to develop this skill? The answer is simple. Everyone needs self-awareness. It is important to support the positive growth of our family, school, workplace and personal relationships.


Through self-awareness practice, our children develop a sense of compassion, kindness and selflessness when growing into adulthood. At the same time, they have better self-understanding, deeper awareness of their behavior, emotions and learning abilities, hence creating success in both their daily lives and school. They have greater control over their thoughts. With increased mindfulness, it influences their ability to observe their choices (schoolwork and social activities), and decide what works for them.


Self-awareness also helps children to be self-reflective, correct their mistakes so they can do better in future instead of being manipulated by their emotions. They can have a better understanding of what they want in life.


When children can have a better understanding of themselves and their environment, their awareness and self-esteem start to develop. It not only challenges the child to face the unknown future, but also discover their unique traits, hence leaving the child knowing when and what to do.


Inner Mindfulness’s K12 Mindful School Program not only teaches mindfulness techniques, but also its practical application in their learning and daily lives. 


They will learn to


●  Be aware of their strength and weakness

●  What they need to do to complete a task

●  Discover and correct mistakes in their work

● Understand the change in their emotions and thoughts, instead of being mastered by them

●  Understand others’ needs and feelings with compassion

● Observe and be aware of how their behavior affects others

● Have growth mindset to embrace possibilities

● Adaptability with the willingness to learn from mistakes


With parents’ increased awareness, stress and anxiety in the family can be reduced, hence, decreasing the chances of family conflict, which is beneficial for the healthy growth and development of a child.

Trainer's Profile

Karin has more than 15 years of senior management experience in the hospitality and wellness industry. In her previous corporate position, she was not only involved in general and project management, but also the development of a wellness business unit. This was when she had the opportunity to work with many local and international wellness practitioners and experts to develop a holistic wellness model for the modern day living.


Karin provides wellness and mindfulness training programs to both corporate and individuals. 


With mindfulness and body mind spirit practice, habits can be developed to manage stress and work life balance. She has developed many programs to support corporate clients to develop concentration habit within 10 days.


She believes that true vitality and inner power comes from a mindful heart. 


It is about an appropriate amount of mind, body and soul, integrating in a harmonious balance. 8 months after joining a silent meditation retreat, Karin left her work and started to integrate all her learnings to support more people towards living a healthy holistic lifestyle, starting with a mindful heart.

培养自我意识对孩子的重要性


自我意识是获取成功的关键。它甚至被世界卫生组织WHO列为十大核心生活技能之一。它可以涉及到人际关系、事业发展、或整体生活幸福感。听起来很简单,但并不是一件容易的事情。自我意识不是一蹴而就的。这是一个人在生活中经历的过程。而且,它没有尽头。


事实上,你可能发现当今社会很多成年人其实缺乏自我意识,导致各种社会问题。如果是这样,你可能会想:为什么——以及如何——我们应该期望孩子们拥有它?


答案很简单:自我意识对所有年龄段的人都很重要。它帮助我们在家庭、学校、工作场所以及与他人的关系中茁壮成长。


通过进行针对性的自我意识的练习,不仅帮助孩子们成长为有同理心、善良和无私的成年人。同时,理解自我意识,并能深入思考自己的行为、情绪和能力的学生更在学校和生活当中更能取得成功,因为拥有较强自我意识的孩子,同时也具有良好自我管理的能力,这意味着他们能够觉察自己在做什么(学校作业或社交活动),并找出哪些是有效的,哪些是无效的。自我意识也会帮助孩子进行自我反思——思考那些挫折和失败,并进行针对性的改进,而不是被失败的情绪所吞没。它可以帮助学生理解他们在生活中什么才是他们真正最需要和最想要的东西。


当孩子们清楚的了解自己和周围环境时,他们就更容易建立积极正向的意识形态和自尊心。这不仅能让孩子们勇于去挑战未来的未知,也能让他们发现自己所擅长的特质,同时能让孩子们清楚地知道什么时候该做什么,并且该如何表达。
