'GNV OPION’ Delivered
On April 16, the MSC/GNV 1,800-passenger/3,100-metre-lane luxury Ropax ‘GNV ORION’, which was built by Guangzhou Shipbuilding International Company Limited(GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) for GNV, a passenger ferry operator of the Mediterranean Shipping Company(MSC), was named and delivered in Nansha , Guangzhou, China.HUNTER MARINE participated in the naming and delivery ceremony.
The ship has complete independent intellectual property rights. It is 218 meters in total length, 29.6 meters in molded breadth, 10 meters in molded depth, with a design draft of 6.45 meters. The gross tonnage is approximately 52,912 tons and the deadweight tonnage is 7,994 tons. The design speed is 25 knots. The ship has a total of 12 decks, and the 3,100-meter lane can accommodate over 600 passenger cars or 200 40-foot container tractor-trailers. The ship adopts a number of high-performance and high-technology products, setting a new benchmark for the construction of luxury passenger-ro-ro ships.
