MSC (2+2) Luxury Ro-Pax
Fin Stabilizers
Recently, Hunter Marine signed a follow-up order for 2+2 sets of fin stabilizers for MSC luxury ro-pax vessels. This project marks another major collaboration with GSI, following previous orders such as the Moby luxury ro-pax (2020), P&O luxury ro-pax (2021), and MSC luxury ro-pax fin stabilizers (2022).
MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, the world’s largest container shipping line, operates a diversified passenger business, including MSC Cruises, the ultra-luxury brand Explora Journeys, and Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV), a leading Mediterranean ferry operator.
The new MSC (2+2) vessels feature fully independent intellectual property rights, with a length of 232.2 meters, a draft of 7.2 meters, a maximum speed of 26 knots, a service speed of 23.3 knots, and a gross tonnage of 35,650 tons. Upon completion, these vessels will be delivered to GNV to enhance Mediterranean passenger and ro-ro cargo capacity.
For this new order, we have further upgraded the fin stabilizer system, which boasts fully independent Intellectual Property. The custom-designed, high-end stabilizers for luxury ro-pax vessels incorporate our **award-winning high-lift flapped fishtail fins, with a single fin area of 16.5 m². Under design conditions, the system achieves 80% roll reduction, significantly improving safety, passenger comfort, schedule reliability, and operational efficiency.
In recent years, HUNTER MARINE has been moving towards the international market, and gradually gained a firm foothold in the European route, China-Korea route and China-Japan route.In terms of export vessels, the vessels ‘Fantasy’ and ‘Legacy’ of Mediterranean Shipping Company(MSC), ‘Pioneer’ and ‘Liberté’ of P&O, ‘Finncanopus’ and ‘Finnsirius’ of Finnlines, and France CPTM ‘Aranoa’, and other ships, a total of more than ten sets of installation use.In terms of domestic ropax vessels, the installation has been carried out on the ‘Oriental Pearl 8’, ‘East China Pearl 8’, ‘New Shijima Pearl’, ‘Gunsan Pearl’, ‘New Yonghua Pearl’, 'Harmonious Yungang','China Renaissance','Bohai Sea Pearl' (series of vessels) total of 90 sets of ropaxes have been installed for use.
