Hacienda Monasterio 2011, from Ribera del Duero and made by Peter Sisseck, was awarded by Wine Sepectator as one of the TOP 100 Wines of the year 2015.

Bodega Hacienda Monasterio is located between Pesquera and Valbuena de Duero, two Duero valley towns famous for the quality of their wines. At the end of the XIX century, the estate was owned by the Lecanda family who pioneered a new form of wine production in this area.

The current wine cellar was built between 1991 and 1992 and as designed by the french architect Philippe Maziéres, who had previously worked for prestigious wine cellars such as Château Margaux, Château d'Yquem.

Since 1990, Peter Sisseck is Hacienda Monasterio´s principal winemaker. He is anagronomy engineer and oenologue and graduated from Bordeaux University. He is the owner of another great winery in Spain - Dominio de Pingus.

Hacienda Monasterio 2011 is a wine blend of mostly Tempranillo with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 2% Malbec. Vineyards are planted on the chalky slopes. Aged in 500-liter oak barrels for 18 months.
