
Former Chief Winemaker and Global CEO of Torres, Raül Bobet left the company at the beginning of the 21th Century to start his own project.His first solo project is Ferrer Bobet, a joint passion project with Sergi Ferrer Salat. They have been dedicated to using and preserving old vine sites of Carignan and Grenache in the Porrera sub-zone of Priorat. With his second project Raül went in search of a viticulture location conducive to lessening the impact of climate change and founded Castell d’Encus in 2001 in the Catalan Pyrenees. The property sits between 2790 and 3280 feet above sea level.

FERRER BOBET

Ferrer Bobet is the result of a passion for the world and culture of wine of two friends, Sergi Ferrer-Salat and Raül Bobet, and reflects their commitment to the economic and social development of Priorat. Their project was started in 2002, and in 2008 their first two wines were released. For their initial wines, Ferrer Bobet have used hundred-year-old Cariñena and Garnacha vines planted on some of the best vineyards in Priorat. Raül Bobet aims to reflect the terroir that has embraced them. The goal of his orthodoxy in vine-growing and winemaking is, precisely, to achieve a purity that surpasses any of the techniques employed, so that whoever tastes his wines will be able to experience the mineral essence, complex and profound, of Priorat, without ever losing any of its freshness, elegance and purity. In the Japanese manga series about wine - The Drops of God,Ferrer Bobet Seleccio Especial 2008 was presented as the "11th Apostle" of 12 Apostles.

CASTELL D'ENCUS

The origin of Castell d'Encus stems from the impact the location had on Raul Bobet in 2001 while he was looking for land that could reduce the effects of climate change on vineyards around the Catalan Pyrenees. 23 of the 95 ha in the property have been planted with high density varieties. The rest of the land remains as a forest. The intention is to produce a limited number of bottles (6000 cases orless) exclusively from the fruit of their own vineyards. The farm has an old chapel and vats carved into rocks for fermenting grapes that use gravity to work; the monks of the Hospitaller Order dating back to the twelfth century created these.The elevation, the excellent sun exposure and the large surrounding forest, along with its long history creates an ethereal and magical place.
