ABOUT THE WINES
Since 1991, an enologist from León, Luis Buitrón, who was instrumental in the creation of the Ribeira Sacra D.O. and helped the Rodríguez family begin estate-bottling their wines. They named their winery Guímaro. Guímaro was one of the first adegas to join the appellation in 1996. In the beginning the wines were simple jovenes, young wines that showed the slate-infused freshness of lush red fruit and supple texture.

The winery belongs to the Méndez family, a family with a great connection to the wine world. The first project began in 1912, the year that Francisco Méndez Laredo planted his first Albariño vine in the field Finca El Torno, in the town of Meaño. Francisco Méndez Laredo has a small winery in which he produced harvester wine, where he received great acknowledgements for his work. Francisco méndez became one of the most famous characters in the area, when a few years later he created the appellation of origin in Rías Baixas. Nowadays, the winery is the hands of Rodrigo Méndez, nephew of the founder, Francisco Méndez.

Mar de Frades was born in 1987 and its path is parallel to that of the Quality Control of the Rias Baixas. It is a pioneering bodega in the area and represents the meaning of the most deeply-rooted tradition in the Valley of Salnés, the historical capital of Albariño. “A sea that is also a wine” – Mar de Frades – is a Galician phrase for Mar de los Frailes (Sea of the Friars). It is also the name given to a place in the Arosa Estuary close to the mouth of the River Umia, the same spot where the pilgrims used to disembark from their maritime journey on their way to Santiago, the shrine of Saint James.

Compañía de Vinos del Atlántico (CVA) was founded in 2002 with the purpose of uniting the winemaking heritage of Alberto Orte and Patrick Mata’s families. Both of their families have been producing wine, independently, throughout Spain since the late 1800s.CVA currently produces wines in 18 different appellations within the Iberian Peninsula. The goal of CVA is to handcraft "elaborar" wines that express the identity of the place where they come from. Throughout the years, CVA has been searching for great vineyard-sites which produce consistently superior wines compared to neighboring vineyards.

The origin of Castell d’Encus stems from the impact the location had on Raul Bobet in 2001 while he was looking for land that could reduce the effects of climate change on vineyards around the Catalan Pyrenees. The elevation of the property (850-1000 meters), the excellent sun exposure and large wooded area around it, along with its long history make the place look privileged and magical. The estate has an old chapel and fermenting grapes vats carved into the rocks by the monks of the Hospitaller Order (12th century).

Rafael Cambra's family are at the cutting edge of vineyard nursery development which led him to establish his own cellar in 2001. Vineyards of the winery are placed at the lowest part of sierra L’ombria in Fontanars, inland Valencia. They are planted around almond and olive trees in perfect harmony at 700 mts above the sea. Mediterranean connotations such as cold winter, warm summer and dryness. Annual rainfall is 450mm.

The Propiedad Vitícola Casa Castillo is a family country property devoted to growing of a 174 hectares (432 acres) vineyard, and the elaboration of the whole fruit production at the family wine cellar. This region, known as “El Altiplano de Jumilla” (Jumilla High Plateau), enjoys a continental climate milded by the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea.

The origins of Cherubino Valsangiacomo date back to 1831, in Switzerland. When Vittore Valsangiacomo founded a winery under his name in Chiasso in the Swiss canton of Ticino next to the Italian border. It was the first family winery.In 2008 started with the bobal deSanJuan project for 100% bobal wines fermented and matured in raw concrete tanks. Together with the 10 hectares of a singular and centennial vineyard.
