How do you like a unique touch to your world? We can start from giving surfaces a distinct look and feel.
BASF will showcase its valure™ transfer coating technology for high-quality flexible substrates at Chinaplas 2014. valure™ enables the creation of innovative textures on a range of substrates with without impairing the air permeability of the material – helping toachieve surfaces with a distinctive character that are soft, warm to the touch, and visually attractive. Leather, textiles and synthetic materials are just some of the many different substrates that can be coated with valure™.
Leather, textiles and synthetic materials are just some of the many different substrates that can be coated with valure™.
Take automotive industry for an example, valure™can be applied to leather and plastics used to manufacture car seats, headrests, steering wheels and interior trim. The result is that the materia lremains air permeable and has a soft handle, and the new design possibilities ensurethat it can be adapted to fulfill the specific demands of the application.
All of the indispensable properties of leather upholstery, such as its air permeability, scratch resistance and soiling resistance, are retained and enhanced when valure™ is applied to leather. valure™ opens up revolutionary new possibilities to transform furniture design.
Thetechnology process
The first step is to transfer the surface stexture from the pattern to the mould. A thin layer of valure™ is then applied to the mould, and the valure™ film is laminated in-line to substrates such astextile fabrics, leather, paper board or plastic film. The finished product is then removed from the mould. Modern laser engraving techniques make it possible to produce moulds quickly and economically to individual designs. valure™ films have a pleasant, settled appearance, and their porous microscopic structure makes them highly air permeable.
