At the end of February 2023, a workshop on “male morality” was held in Beijing. The initiator, Fang Gang, a well-known Chinese scholar and sex education expert, said that the purpose of the class was to teach men how to be “good partners and fathers” and move away from traditional notions of masculinity that discourage the display of emotion, for which Fang got bullied and branded “girly” by classmates when he was younger.
