【Job Opening: Video Journalist】
Sixth Tone is recruiting a video journalist! As a part of our visuals team, you will have the opportunity to make original videos on human-centric topics ranging from two to eight minutes in length. You will also react to ongoing news events and collaborate with reporters and editors across the Sixth Tone newsroom.
The ideal candidate should have excellent editorial judgment, a wide range of interests, the ability to work on tight deadlines, and a strong degree of comfort with both self-directed and team-based working environments. Successful candidates should demonstrate exceptional story development and scriptwriting skills, as well as a passion for both shooting and editing stories beneath the surface of Chinese society.
Please note, this is not a position involving the production of long-term documentaries.
Responsibilities:
Pitching, researching, sourcing, producing, filming, scripting, and editing original video stories.
Developing and planning high-impact stories, including both explainers and short documentaries.
Responding swiftly to breaking news and meeting tight deadlines.
Cooperating with colleagues and other teams on projects as needed.
Requirements:
Strong shooting skills, with experience using SONY A7 series cameras and other camera setups.
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, with experience using After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
A nose for news, as well as knowledge of current trends.
The ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
Strong communication skills.
Fluency in English.
Degrees in Journalism, Media, Communications, or related fields preferred.
