The quest to find the perfect basic t-shirt as a larger man in China can seem impossible at times. We decided to test out five different brands to see what China has to offer that isn't too short, too tight or too wide.

Uniqlo

This t-shirt was a good length, and the material was soft and comfortable. It fit well and wasn't too wide or tight. Uniqlo has never worked out for our model before when tried on in-store, but you can find larger sizes on their official online store (up to 4XL) if you do a little digging.

Uniqlo AIRism Men's Cotton Blend T-Shirt

Decathlon

Decathlon is an easy choice for reasonably priced fitness clothing. Some men's clothing styles are offered up to size 5XL! This t-shirt was a bit wide around the torso, but in terms of function our model had no complaints. It is perfect for going to the gym or a hot summer day because the material is comfortable and dries quickly.

Size Purchased: 2XL (the seller recommends purchasing one size smaller than your usual size because the t-shirts run large)

Decathlon Quick Drying Men's T-Shirt

Cotton

Cotton is a shop that specializes in... cotton! We like their no nonsense approach to clothing - you get a pure cotton garment with the weight listed clearly in the product name. This t-shirt was a bit too thick for summer, but would be a nice choice for fall or winter. The cotton was soft and of a nice quality. Unfortunately for our model it was too tight around the arms, but still a nice t-shirt overall.

210G Heavy Weight Cotton T-Shirt

Lativ

In terms of price, you can't beat Lativ. The shirt was slightly on the larger side but our model was quite happy with it. It is made from a polyester-cotton blend, and stood up well in the wash. We also picked up two other t-shirts from Lativ (for that price, why not?) and were happy with what we received.

Lativ Men's V-Neck T-Shirt

COS

This was the nicest t-shirt in terms of quality and fit. However, we do fear that if our model puts on just 1 more kg of weight it may be a different story. The price is definitely higher than the average t-shirt, but you do get what you pay for in terms of quality - the cotton was very luxurious, the style was flattering and COS products are known to last a long time.
