In 2020, video games brought entertainment and connectivity to a suddenly isolated world. Whether creating our own island paradise, fighting off of Mongolian invaders, or swinging virtual lightsabers, games gave us joy and escape. Here are our favorite releases of the year.

A note about games in China and whether they are in English: The short answer is yes, pretty much every game you will want to buy is in English - even when the product page says "Chinese" for the language option. Every mainstream console game (i.e. those not made exclusively for China) is available in both English and Chinese. Sellers write "Chinese" on the product page simply to inform Chinese shoppers that the game also offers Chinese language support, and we understand this can be misleading. Fear not - if a game was originally made in English and the cover is in English, the version you buy here will also have English.

Ghost of Tsushima for PS4

An epic open-world adventure in feudal Japan with compelling characters, gorgeous environments, and incredible combat. This writer's personal favorite for 2020.

Star Wars: Squadrons

If you ever dreamed of being a starfighter pilot, this is your chance. Available on Xbox One as well. If you'd rather weild a lightsaber, Jedi: Fallen Order was also a solid entry in the Star Wars game collection.

The Last Of Us Remastered for PS4

Okay, we're cheating here. This should be The Last of Us II, but unfortunately the powers that be have forbidden its sale in China (smh). Still, if you haven't played the first one, you absolutely must, and you can now get it at a great discount.
