What You Bring to the Table
3-4+ years web development
1-2+ years experience with Ruby on Rails (or similar frameworks)
A strong background in backend development and good understanding of the web development life cycle
Familiarity with marketplace eCommerce platforms
Experience using testing frameworks for creating bulletproof code
Experience with PostgreSQL or similar SQL databases
Willingness to learn and experiment with new technology
Familiarity with Linux based servers
Experience with development and integration of REST APIs, including testing and deployment
Bonus points if you are proficient with other programming frameworks (e.g. ReactJS/nodeJS)
Bonus points if you are familiar with Taobao’s API
What You'll Be Doing
Use tools that include Ruby on Rails and React
Build on the existing success of the Baopals platform with a close-knit and passionate team
Hash out details of new features and write unit and integration tests of to make sure they are rock-solid
Develop stable, secure, usable e-commerce software
The Product
Baopals allows foreigners to easily to browse, view, and purchase products from Taobao and Tmall. All product information is available in English, western-oriented products are easy to find, and foreign-friendly payments are accepted. The platform launched in March 2016 and has already sold over 440,000 items.
