With ongoing globalization, Chinese enterprises have seen and are foreseeing significant growth and development of their activities in the European Union. However, this expansion is not without challenges. Pursuant to EU legislation, member states have been implementing foreign investment security screening rules and regulations that affect investments in EU companies, including by foreign more notable Chinese- entities. In addition, following the recently introduced EU Foreign Subsidy Regulation, the EU is actively enforcing rules against unfair foreign governmental subsidies. This has already resulted in some noteworthy cases, including one incident where a Chinese company’s offices in Poland and the Netherlands were subjected to dawn raids by EU investigators.
