2015年11月，由Pacific Biosciences公司“SMRT Grant Program”项目，免费资助的复活草测序项目，仅用了不到一个月时间，完成了从DNA提取到完整基因组拼接的全过程，并发表于《Nature》杂志上。
今年，机会来了，新的一季“SMRT Grant Program”项目继续进行，与以往不同的是，这次的项目将在最新的Sequel系统上进行。此次活动的目的仍然是希望帮助动植物基因组研究者获得完整的基因组序列。

请告诉我们，为何您正在研究的基因组是全世界最有趣的。您研究的物种的基因组或转录组将会如何推进动植物基因组研究的新发现。最终将会由PacBio及共同赞助商的科学家团队选出5位符合条件的申请者，进行最终的角逐。最能说明三代测序技术优势的1位申请者将会通过评委投票胜出。

1）最终获胜者将会得到如下奖励：一次完整建库，包括SMRTbell 文库制备，结合聚合酶，片段筛选等。
2）在新的Sequel系统上进行测序（最多可以测10个SMRT Cells，包含测序试剂）

Enter the 2016 SMRT Sequencing Grant Program on the Sequel System!
Are you exploring a strange new genome, seeking out new genes or new functions, or boldly going where no scientist has gone before? Tell us why you are studying the most interesting genome in the world.
Enter to win BluePippin DNA Size-Selection and SMRT Sequencing by submitting a short grant application* (< 250 words) describing how a comprehensive view of your organism’s genome or transcriptome will propel genomic discovery for plant and animal research. Five (5) finalists will be selected from all qualified applications by a panel of scientists from PacBio and co-sponsors, who will choose the application that best demonstrates the power of PacBio SMRT Sequencing. The final one (1) winner will be determined by community polling for the project that generates the most interest!
We want to hear your proposals by January 31, 2016.
The winner will be awarded:
· (1）library construction, including SMRTbell library preparation, annealing and binding, size appropriate to project
· （2）Sequencing (up to 10 SMRT Cells including sequencing reagents) on the Sequel System, and
· （3）Computomics bioinformatics analysis (analysis provided)
