超售是什么？
按照国际航空运输行业通行的做法，为了满足广大旅客的出行需求，减少因部分旅客临时取消出行计划而造成的航班座位虚耗，航空公司可能会根据历史数据在部分容易出现no show的航班上进行适当的超售，以保证更多的旅客能够搭乘理想的航班。
遇到超售怎么办？
超售只有在旅客到达换票柜台时才会被告知，航空公司不会提前通知代理人，代理人也无法在系统里做超售航班的签转。
如果遇到超售的情况，建议旅客在机场现场采取以下几种措施：
如果行程时间比较灵活，可以要求航空公司更改到当天的其他航班上，同时向航空公司要求补偿。一般航空公司会开出补偿证明或配套的里程补偿计划。
如果更改的航班是第二天的，旅客可以要求航空公司免费安排膳食和住宿。
如果被航空公司拒绝登机，旅客可以向航空公司要求现金或里程补偿。
如果因超售影响行程不得不放弃旅行，旅客可以要求航空公司开具全退证明，申请机票全额退款。
通常来讲，旅客在机场能得到最快速和直接的补偿。如果离开机场事后再追偿，时间跨度就会比较长。所以建议旅客在机场直接跟航空公司进行交涉。
如何避免受航班超售带来的影响？

提前到达机场换取登机牌。机场工作人员通常会按照先到先得的顺序为旅客进行安排。

What is overbooking?
Overbooking is a common practice in the airline industry, where they book more people onto a flight than there are seats on the plane on certain routes with high no show rates based on historical data. This is in anticipation of any last minute cancelations and to avoid attrition. To ensure that more travelers will be able to get their desired flights and their travel needs are met, overbooking is utilized by most airlines.
What can a traveler do when his/her flight is overbooked?
Travelers are only made aware of the situation when they arrive at the check-in counters. Airlines will neither inform travel agents in advance, nor authorize them to change flights for their clients.
Below actions are suggested when a traveler encounters overbooked flight at the airport:
Ask the airline to switch to another flight on the same day while claiming for compensation if your schedule is more flexible. It’s common for airlines to issue compensation confirmation and/or coupled with complementing mileage plans.
If alternative flight is on the next day, traveler is entitled for free F&B and accommodation.
If boarding is denied by the airline, traveler should ask for cash or mileage as compensation directly.
Traveler is entitled to a full refund of ticket if trip has to be canceled due to airline overbooking.
How to avoid overbooking?
Online check-in in advance;
Check-in at the airport as early as possible. The policy is usually “first come, first served”.
In most cases, the fastest and most direct way for a traveler to claim compensation is at the airport. It can become a lengthy process after you leave so direct negotiation with the airline immediately after being informed is advised.
