DHS: Aviation enhanced security measures for all commercial flights to the United States
The Department of Homeland Security of the United States (DHS) has announced it is working to enhance security measures for all commercial flights to the United States. 2,100 average daily flights operated by 180 airlines, flying from 280 airports based on 105 countries to the United States will be affected. 325,000 average daily passengers will be affected.
Within the next few weeks and months, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will work together to ensure these enhanced security measures are fully implemented. These measures include but are not limited to:
· Enhancing overall passenger screening
· Conducting heightened screening of personal electronic devices
· Increasing security protocols around aircraft and in passenger areas
· Deploying advanced technology, expanding canine screening, and establishing additional preclearance locations
