Increased security in Thailand’s Deep South
As reported in a recent CWT Alert, authorities have tightened security measures in Thailand's Deep South after eight bombings occured in Pattani Province on March 30-31. Additional security checkpoints have been set up, particularly on roads leading to Hat Yai town, of which tourists from neighboring countries are expected to visit during Songkran Festival on April 13-15.
CWT China reminds travelers who are already in Thailand or have plans to travel to Thailand, to pay close attention to any security information. Take extra precaution to ensure personal safety and arrange travel accordingly. In case of emergency, please contact the local police, the Chinese embassy or consulate general in Thailand for help.
