Employee empowerment facilitates corporate travel management



What is "empowerment"? Put simply, it means that you are enabled by an organization to do something of which you were otherwise incapable. With personal desire, passion and creativity as the primary engine, such an organization is designed to help people realize their dreams.


How to facilitate corporate travel management through employee empowerment is becoming a hot topic among TMCs, who are still in their infancy in China. Their employees, especially those at the front end, tend to be young people. In addition, the industry being dynamic itself, is influenced by multiple factors. As a service industry, it requires employees with excellent skills in communication and independent operation. Through empowerment, employees are allowed independent operations, which, in turn, enable them to build up skills. Meanwhile, independence is redefined to greatly lower its cost and criteria and meet the overall demands of the industry.

With the advent of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, the corporate travel industry has undergone tremendous changes and become more efficient. As employees, millennials tend to make their own reservation, pay more attention to details and new technologies, and embrace new travel products. This generation works with speed, efficiency and diversity. TMCs have to stay abreast of the times and develop digital travel management systems to provide personalized services and meet new demands.


Moreover, with the varying demands and pain points of enterprises, TMCs have to probe into their specific demands and assist them with employee empowerment. There are three major categories of corporate concerns for travel: how to have employees understand and correctly implement related policies, how to minimize the costs, and how to integrate the processes. In terms of policies, we need to help enterprises update employees on their policies in real time instead of putting the documents online for them to find out on their own. CWT online products can also incorporate enterprises' policies and agreement providers into the system so that employees will stay informed in real time during reservation for higher efficiency. For instance, when a travel consultant performs outstandingly, travelers will o er proper encouragement and express gratitude and enterprises help give the recognition. When a new product is launched, feedback, encouragement and suggestions from enterprises also empower TMCs to make changes so that they can provide better services. A virtuous cycle helps to bring a longer and steadier co-operation.
