Similar to last season the local cup tournament ended in the semi finals for our Fortschritt Red Lions. The game resulted in a 1-1 draw over 90 minutes, but the following penalty shoot out resulted in cup holders Yinglian reaching the final.
Fortschritt Red Lions took the lead (1-0) after ten minutes through ShiXin, with our team dominating Yinglian during large parts of the game. But the score became equal again after the opponents scored after an hour into the game (1-1). In the penalty shoot out the Lions missed one penalty shot, while the opponents managed to score all five penalty shots.
Focus of staff and players now returns to building a strong team for the Qingdao League and the fight for promotion to China League 2. A game for third place of the local cup tournament will be played next saturday, February 10 at 09:00h, Laoshan Football Park. Opponents will be HaiYiHui.
