Regulation (EC) No 850/2004 of the European Parliament and of the

 Council on persistent organic pollutants added HBCDD exemption entry

On 2 March 2016, Official Journal of the European Union published amendment (EU) 2016/293 to Regulation (EC) No 850/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council on persistent organic pollutants. The HBCDD exemption entry in Part A of Annex I is added. Details are as below:

（EU）2016/293 require concentrations of hexabromocyclododecane equal to or below 100 mg/kg (0,01 % by weight) when it occurs in substances, preparations, articles or as constituents of the flame-retarded parts of articles, and no longer allow the production of expanded polystyrene and extruded polystyrene articles that contain hexabromocyclododecane.

The amendment will come into effect on March 22. Relevant manufacturer should pay attention to detect HBCDD content in products to control risk.
