We came to Nanjing to accompany my uncle’s ashes back to his ancestral home as he wished. There were so many of us at the airport welcoming him home that security came several times to ask what we were doing. I attended the urn sealing ceremony which I never observed before. The silicon glue gun modern but prayers ancient.

按照舅舅的遗愿，我们将他的骨灰送回老家南京安葬，落叶归根。在机场迎接他回家的人非常多，机场的安保人员也全程关注着我们。我参与了舅舅的骨灰盒密封仪式——胶枪是现代的，但祈祷仪式古老而传统。

Early next morning, we climbed up the hill to where my uncle purchased his plot near his brothers and parents, my grandparents, and interred his ashes. As the workers dropped the cover, there was a “plack” of finality. Sherry and I walked to my other uncles plots and also to my grandparents. I pointed to my name carved into the headstone of my grandparents headstone and felt a trembling of the long lineage of family that I didn’t feel growing up in America.

次日一早，我们所有人来到位于南京白龙山的公墓，这是舅舅即将安葬的地方，这里也长眠着我的外公、外婆和其他舅舅。墓地石棺板被打开的时候，我知道，舅舅即将永远的离开我们，他会在另外一个世界继续关心和爱护我们。Sherry和我也祭拜了我的外公、外婆和其他舅舅。看到外公、外婆墓碑上的立碑人中也有我的名字，从小在美国长大的我，第一次感受到来自家族悠长血脉带来的震颤。

Afterwards, we celebrated his life with stories. I shared the story of convincing Mr. Wang to join my father, Dr. Cheng and I in our helmet making venture. At first, Mr. Wang was sceptical but joined us May 1996. Just 2 months later we made our first shipment and only in August did we receive our business registration. He taught me how to achieve the impossible thru hard work and relentless dedication. From the beginning, he poured all his energy into Strategic Sports by working from 8 am to 10 pm and then we went to the restaurant near the factory for late dinner and wine. We all knew he would not want us to mourn but focus on life. Yet was difficult not to feel the loss of his guiding spirit. Later I told Sherry the traditional Chinese music caused the heavy sense of tragedy. The last of my family’s member of that greatest generation who survived wars and led the rebirth. Together, we continue honor his spirit by bringing his vision into reality. Until we meet again!

舅舅的人生，我们会用故事来纪念。我分享过说服舅舅加入我和父亲郑博士创立的安全帽事业的故事。刚开始他并不同意，但最后还是在1996年的5月加入了我们，当年8月我们的新公司注册成立。我们的第一批产品，在他加入后2个月就顺利出货。舅舅教我如何通过努力工作和不懈奉献去达成看起来不可能实现的目标。他也一直事必躬亲、以身作则，把所有的精力都投入到公司的工作中。每天从早上8点一直工作到晚上10点，才下班去工厂附近的餐馆吃晚饭，偶尔他也会喝点酒，与我聊工作、聊生活、聊理想。舅舅出生在战争年代，那个年代出生的人，是我们家族中最伟大的一代人；他用坚韧不拔的意志，在动荡不安的年代获得了重生。

舅舅的追思会上，大提琴拉出的中国传统音乐沉重而伤感；但我知道，他不愿看到我们悲伤，而是希望我们专注于生活和未来。舅舅走了，但他的敬业和奉献精神一直都在陪伴我们。我们会共同努力，延续他的精神，将他的愿景变为现实。
