REPowerEU Plan
The Russia-Ukraine war has plunged Europe into an energy crisis and accelerated the process of energy transition in Europe. In May this year, the European Commission announced the "EU Renewable Energy Plan" (REPowerEU Plan) .
With the goal of increasing the share of renewable energy in the energy mix from 40% to 45% by 2030 and the installed capacity of renewable energy from 1067 GW to 1236 GW, the EU's determination to move towards clean energy has "never been clearer and more resolute", as the European Commission said in the communication of the REPowerEU plan.
Supported by the EU's renewable energy policy, the cost of solar PV has fallen by 82% over the past decade, making it one of the most competitive sources of electricity in the EU, according to data from the 2019 Cost of Renewable Energy Generation Report published by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). In the draft, solar energy has also become a priority energy source of development.
Recently, the European Commission has released the "EU Solar Strategy", which aims to reach nearly 600 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030. In order to achieve this goal, the EU will need to add an average of 45 GW of installed solar PV capacity each year for the next ten years.
To achieve this goal, the EU mandates the installation of solar roofs on upcoming and existing public and commercial buildings by 2027; and for new buildings, where technically feasible, 100% of the energy consumption from renewable sources by 2030.
The energy transition is inseparable from the support of scientific research. As an important enterprise in the European photovoltaic industry, FuturaSun is an important Cooperator of the European Renewable Energy Development Program (EURECA), which is a key project funded by the European Horizon Europe program, and the need to continue to support the Horizon Europe program is also re-emphasized in this release of the EU Solar Strategy. Between 2020 and 2030, the Innovation Fund will provide about 25 billion euros of financial support for commercial demonstrations of low-carbon technologies, including solar energy.
Horizon Europe is the Ninth European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation running from 2021 to 2027. It has a budget of around € 100 billion and it is the most ambitious programme ever for financing research and innovation in Europe.

Take the Suzhou RADICI Industrial Rooftop Project under construction by FuturaSun as an example, the roof area of the project is about 16,000 square meters, and 2,900 pieces of500watt PV modules are planned to be installed. After the installation of the rooftop PV system is completed, it can provide 1.6 million kWh of electricity per year.
The EU Solar Strategy and the Horizon Europe undoubtedly bring great opportunities for the development of photovoltaic power generation in Europe and worldwide, but at the same time the development of solar energy also faces some technical difficulties.
