On 2nd May 2018, the Canada Gazette published Children's Jewellery Regulations SOR/2018-82, which shall repeal SOR/2016-168.
The main updates in SOR/2018-82 are follows:
1. Lead content: Children’s jewellery must not contain more than 90 mg/kg of lead.
2. Cadmium content: Children’s jewellery must not contain more than 130 mg/kg of cadmium if the jewellery item is small enough to be totally enclosed in the small parts cylinder illustrated in the schedule when a force of not more than 4.45 Nis applied.
3. The Regulations come into force on November 2, 2018.
MTS reminds related companies to timely follow up on new laws and regulations, produce and export according to requirements, and pay attention to the requirements of the declaration of conformity.
