
In June 2018, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) published the latest version European toys standard EN 71-1 : 2014 + A1 : 2018 (Mechanical and physical properties) which will replace the EN 71-1: 2014.
The main contents of the new version are as follows:
1.Include cords and drawstrings requirements for toy disguise costumes as regulated in standard EN 14682.
2.Clarify many interpretation issues regarding cords.
3.Revision projectiles toys requirements.
4.Include drotors and propellers requirements on flying toys like toy helicopters and toydrones.
5.Clarify stoppers requirements for aquatic toys and inflatable toys.
6.Update related test methods.
7.Clarify the hinge line requirements.
The standard EN 71-1 : 2014 + A1 : 2018 is expected to be harmonised standard under Directive 2009/48/EC.
