The first Palais des Festivals et des Congrès was built in 1949 to host the Cannes Film Festival. In response to thegrowing success of the Film Festival, the City of Cannes decided to build a newPalais in 1979. The new building, a six-storey building was designed in the Modernist style by the architects Sir Hubert Bennett and François Druet. Itopened in December 1982 and was expanded in 1999, a new space of 10,000 squaremeters.

The surfaces of the Alabastri di Rex, used in the 80x180 cm size and Madreperla color, enrich the elegant hall andthe interior spaces. The luxury of alabaster, with its delicate nuances andveins, makes the ambiances warmer and welcoming.
