STUDIO 9 是现代设计的承载之地, 以 「丹麦设计 1920–2022:一组流动的篇章」 开幕,以 “时间” 为线索,呈现丹麦设计品牌 HAY,&Tradition,Verpan 和 Frandsen 的标志性作品。回溯百年经典设计,无形的灵感化作有形的作品;设计师们传承与创新的探索,在当下持续散发着历久弥新的能量,构成一组流动的叙事篇章。
STUDIO 9 debuts with 「Danish Design 1920-2022: flowing chapters of heritage」 , and weaves together a retrospective of a century of classic designs from Danish design brands, HAY, &Tradition, Verpan and Frandsen, where intangible inspirations are transformed into tangible works. The exploration of heritage and innovation continues to emanate the energy of time,and creating the flowing chapters of design.
纵览其设计历程,丹麦与中国在文化上有着亲近之处:遵循传统与现代结合的原则,尊重手工艺,珍惜自然材料,以人为本,寻求功能主义与产品价值之间的平衡性。这种亲切感,为双方设计与创意上的交流带来更多可能。
Denmark and China share a cultural affinity throughout the design history: adhering to the principles of fusing tradition and modernity, honoring craftsmanship, valuing natural materials, people-oriented and attempting to strike a balance between functionalism and product value. This proximity creates opportunities for design and artistic expression in reality.
依海而居的丹麦人,有着悠久的造船传统,以精湛而高水平的木工艺为豪,为工业生产渐进式发展提供了基础。20世纪初,工业生产的到来让热衷于探索新方式的丹麦设计师顺应时代变化,重新研究家具制式,以手工艺为核心,探索出独特的设计方法论。丹麦设计里承载着对自然材料的尊重与精细工艺的坚持,立足传统文化底蕴,自现代设计视角出发,结合对人、尺度、功能的关注,发展出自然、简约、兼具功能与美感的丹麦现代设计。
Danes have a tradition of shipbuilding and boast a high level of craftsmanship, which provided the basis for the progressive development of industrial production. Danish designers eager to experiment with new ideas, naturally responded to the changes in the times by re-examining furniture formats and exploring a distinctive design mélange, as a result of the introduction of industrial production at the turn of the 20th century. Their respect for fine craftsmanship and natural materials combined with the emphasis on people, scale, and function, thus developed a modern Danish design that is natural and simple, functional and beautiful.

This was the period of change. The world saw a post-war cultural boom, society changed, and so did design trends. Designers had a wealth of creative inspiration and opportunities as a result of the development of new materials and technologies. Design evolved beyond the fundamental needs of problem-solving, given a more spiritual and human dimension. Danish designers explored new forms of functionalist design based on new synthetic and lightweight materials. As a result, abstract, organic, technical and high-quality products emerged, developing a humane, warm and welcoming modern aesthetics.

In 21st century, works of the masters became renowned classics. A new generation of designers who are both rooted in tradition and influenced by a universal culture, push the boundaries of used and new materials, methods and forms, while upholding simplicity and functionality. They are astute observers of the present and develop innovative solutions based on changing lifestyles and usage needs. Designers’ creations in this new era have been going beyond the aesthetically beautiful and useful objects, containing profound ideas and interpretations of contemporary life, spatial contexts and cultural meanings.
