青花瓷出现于唐代，釉里红则是元代的新品种。以氧化钴和氧化铜在白色瓷坯上绘彩，施高温釉后在窑炉中以约1200℃的还原焰烧造而成，表面呈现蓝、白、红相间的花纹的瓷器，就是青花釉里红瓷器。这一新的釉下彩品种的出现，是元代瓷器生产技术进步的重要标志。

此罐直口，短颈，溜肩，鼓腹，圈足，砂底无釉。胎体上薄下厚，胎质细腻，青花色彩浓艳，釉里红略暗。罐盖顶堆塑坐狮钮。通体青花釉里红纹饰。罐盖绘青花莲瓣纹、卷草纹、回纹各一周。罐身近口沿处绘青花缠枝花纹、卷草纹各一周。肩部绘下垂如意云头纹，云头纹内绘青花水波纹托白莲，云头纹之间绘折枝牡丹纹。腹部四面堆塑双菱形串珠开光，开光内山石、牡丹、菊花等四季园景，以釉里红绘山石、花卉，青花绘花叶，纹饰有浮雕效果。腹下部饰青花折枝莲花，与肩部云头纹相对应。近底处绘卷草纹及变形莲瓣纹，莲瓣纹内绘倒垂宝相花纹。罐型丰满浑厚，纹饰层次鲜明，综合绘、镂、塑、贴等多种技法。青花、釉里红互为衬托，红、蓝交相辉映。造型丰满浑厚，纹饰层次鲜明，综合了绘、镂、塑、模印、贴等多种技法。青花、釉里红在作品中互为衬托，红、蓝交相辉映，整体形成一种气度雍容而又花团锦簇的艺术效果。

The pot has straight mouth, short neck, shoulder slippage, belly drum, circle foot and no glaze on the sand bottom.
