军政府造四川铜币是辛亥革命时期的产物。1911年12月发生“成都叛乱”，以尹昌衡、罗纶为正副都督的四川军政府取代了建设仅12天的大汉四川军政府。新的四川军政府建设之初即面临着需用日繁、度支日绌的财政困窘时势。军政府迅速接受了四川成都造币厂，决议铸造“四川铜币”以应急。民国元年（1912年）4月，四川成都造币厂奉四川军政府之命，开模铸造“军政府造四川铜币”（也称“汉”字铜元）。
Sichuan copper coins made by the military government were the product of the 1911 Revolution. In December 1911, the Chengdu Rebellion took place. The Sichuan Military Government, with Yin Changheng and Laurent as its chief and deputy governors, replaced the Sichuan Military Government, which had been built for only 12 days. At the beginning of the construction of the new military government in Sichuan, it was faced with the financial predicament that needed more and more money and spent less and less. The military government quickly accepted the Sichuan Chengdu Mint and decided to forge "Sichuan Copper coin" for emergency. In April of the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the Chengdu Mint of Sichuan, under the orders of the Sichuan Military Government, cast the "Sichuan Copper coin made by the military government" (also known as the "Han" copper coin).

此币正面中央珠圈内有“四川铜币”四字直读，上下左右分列，其中心饰有芙蓉花纹。珠圈上缘书“军政府造”四字，下缘为“当制钱五十文”字样，标明币值，左右饰以花星纹饰。背面中央大圆圈内为一篆书“汉”字，圈外上端镌“中华民国元年”六个字，左右分列四星花饰。“汉”字圆圈外还环绕有18个小圆圈，代表当时的十八个省份。把18个小圆圈围绕着“汉”字联成一体，寓意十八省人民团结起来共同为“驱逐鞑虏，恢复中华”而战斗。它带有辛亥革命那一时期鲜明的时代印记，见证了那一段波澜壮阔的民国历史。整体包浆自然，成色匀整，色泽明亮，设计别致，造型优雅，寓意深远，未来价值无可限量。
On the front of the coin, the four words "Sichuan Copper coin" are read directly in the central bead circle. They are arranged from top to bottom, with hibiscus pattern in the center. The upper margin of the bead circle is "made by the military government" and the lower margin is "fifty words for making money", indicating the value of the currency and decorating the left and right with flower stars. On the back, there is a seal book "Han" in the big circle. On the top of the circle, there are six words "the first year of the Republic of China", which are arranged in four star ornaments. There were 18 small circles outside the "Han" circle, representing 18 provinces at that time. The combination of 18 small circles around the word "Han" implies that the people of 18 provinces united to fight for "expelling the Tartars and restoring China". It bears the distinct epoch mark of the Revolution of 1911 and witnesses the magnificent history of the nation. The whole pulp is natural, uniform in color, bright in color, chic in design, elegant in shape, far-reaching in implication, and of unlimited value in the future.
与孙像开国纪念币和袁像银元比起来，军政府造四川铜币流通范围较窄，发行量与存世量自然无法与前二者相比。由于这个原因，接触川洋的人比较少，研究者更少。但这并不表示川洋的研究价值和市场价值不高，向来经济规律和收藏首要以“物以稀为贵”定律为标准。作为特殊历史时期、地方政权的特殊货币，军政府货币具有军用货币和民用货币的双重职能，是历史的产物，具有不可替代的文物价值，是历史的见证。
