钱币作为法定货币，在商品交换过程中充当一般等价物的作用，执行价值尺度、流通手段、支付手段、贮藏手段和世界货币五种职能，这是 钱币作为法定货币在流通领域中具有的职能。然而，当抛开其作为法定货币的角色，而作为一种艺术品和文物， 钱币又具有了另一种特殊的职能——收藏价值。

此组两枚一组钱币分别为光绪银币丁未一两和中华民国三年袁大头壹圆，光绪银币是由清政府度支部设计和正式铸行的清代标准银币之一。清朝光绪三十三年度支部天津造币总厂铸造。银币正面中央圆圈内镌“光绪银币”四个字，圈外左右两侧分镌“丁未”二字和一对双龙戏珠（寿字）图案。银币背面中央镌“一两”二字，两侧镌双龙戏珠图案，两条龙的背部和龙腹部分别镌有三团云朵，下端镌海浪图案。

The two sets of coins are Guangxu silver coin Ding Weiwei and Yuan Datou one yuan in the three years of the Republic of China. Guangxu silver coin is one of the standard silver coins of the Qing Dynasty designed and formally minted by the branch of the Qing government. The 33-year branch of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty was minted by Tianjin Mint General Factory. Silver coin front central circle engraved "Guangxu Silver coin" four words, outside the left and right sides of the circle engraved "Dingwei" two words and a pair of Shuanglong opera beads (Shouzi) pattern. On the back of the silver coin, the word "one or two" is engraved in the center, and the two dragons are engraved with the pattern of double dragons playing pearls. On the back and abdomen of the two dragons, three clouds are engraved, and on the bottom, the pattern of waves is engraved.

民国三年袁大头银币正面为袁世凯侧面肖像，雕刻精细，线条流畅，立体感强，头像上端铸有“中华民国三年”六字，字体清秀，洒脱自然。钱币背面为嘉禾图和币值，两条嘉禾左右交互，下系结带层次感强，春意盎然，朝气蓬勃，充满了朝气；纹饰中间铸“壹圆”字样，笔画圆润饱满，字体秀美。整币设计古朴素雅，简洁大方，十分精致美观。
