辛亥革命后，已光复的17省代表在南京推选孙中山为中华民国临时大总统。民国成立时，由于币制尚未建立，除四川改铸大汉银币，福建改铸中华元宝外，主要的造币厂，大都仍沿用前清钢模铸造银币，以供流通需要。由于币制混乱，临时政府财政部长陈锦涛呈文大总统孙中山，鼓铸1000万元纪念银币以为整顿。孙中山同意鼓铸纪念币，南京、湖北、广东等造币厂依式铸造，紧接着就诞生了中华民国孙中山像开国纪念币。同时，为了让世人铭记孙中山先生的丰功伟绩，在民国时期，铸造发行了镌有孙中山头像和帆船的银币，这就是双帆币的由来。本文主要介绍一枚双帆币和一枚孙中山开国纪念币。

此枚双帆币图案精美，古旧自然，钱币正面铸有孙中山侧面五分像，上环“中华民国二十三年”字样，钱币背面为双桅帆船图案，图案左右分别铸有“壹圆”二字。此枚孙中山开国纪念币钱文清晰，包浆圆润，钱币正面中央铸有孙中山侧面五分像，外围双圈，珠圈在外，线圈在内。珠圈上环中文繁体“中华民国”四字，下环“开国纪念币”中文繁体字样，左右铸有长枝花饰。钱币背面中央为嘉禾图案和币值，中央铸有“壹圆”字样，两株嘉禾左右交互，下系结带，外围双圈，珠圈在外，线圈在内。上环英文“民国”字样，下环英文“中华民国诞生”字样。

The traditional Chinese characters of "Republic of China" in the upper ring of the bead circle and "Founding Commemorative Coin" in the lower ring of the bead circle have long branches and decorations on the left and right.
