广东省是我国最早开始生产铜元的省份，清朝末期相继生产了广东省造光绪元宝及大清铜币系列铜元。辛亥革命后，民国军政府接收了清末的广州造币厂，更名为中华民国军政府广东造币厂，并着手生产各种带有民国纪年的货币。民国元年（1912）至民国七年（1918），广东造币厂生产的铜元以壹仙铜币为主。

此枚钱币为中华民国五年壹仙铜币，钱币正面珠圈内为“壹仙铜币”四个大字，珠圈外部上缘书“中华民国五年”纪年；珠圈外部下缘书“廣東省造”标明铸地，书写清晰，镌刻精细，钱币背面同样以珠圈为界，珠圈内为大写阿拉伯数字“1”以标明币值，珠圈外围上方有英文字樣，珠圈外緣下部则镌刻“ONE CENT”英文字样，标明币值。
