清代机制铜圆的铸造始于1900年，止于1911年（宣统三年）。鼎盛时期全国共有十七省二十局开机铸造铜圆。十七省二十局先后铸造的当十铜圆，各不相同，版式繁多，但其铸造流通时间只有短短十余年。光绪三十一年（1905）七月，清政府通令各省将所铸的“光绪元宝”铜币统一改为“大清铜币”，并要在币的中心加铸阴文或阳文的各省汉文简称，四川省即铸有中心为“川”字的当五、当十、当二十等三种铜元。
The foundry of mechanism copper round in Qing Dynasty began in 1900 and ended in 1911 (three years of Xuantong). The seventeenth and twentieth bureaus have cast ten copper rounds in succession, each with different formats, but their casting circulation time is only a short period of more than ten years. In July of the 31st year of Guangxu (1905), the Qing government ordered all provinces to change the coin of "Guangxu Yuanbao" into "Daqing Copper coin", and to add Chinese abbreviations in the center of the coin, namely, five, ten and twenty copper coins with the central character of "Sichuan".

This coin is the "Chuan" version of the Great Qing bronze coin in the household.
