康熙元年（1662年）清政府下令停上代“顺治通宝”钱，而改铸“康熙通宝”钱，并规定以后凡是嗣位改元，所铸钱制皆如此例。纵观康熙一朝，在全国共开设铸钱局二十四处。由于受当时冶铸工本和钱币私铸等问题的影响，每一文康熙钱曾分别重一钱四分、一钱、七分，这样一来便产生了我们今天见到的大、中、小三种不同重量的“康熙通宝”钱。

In the first year of Kangxi (1662), the Qing government ordered that the money of Shunzhi Tongbao of the previous generation be stopped, and that the money of Kangxi Tongbao be cast instead. It also stipulated that in the future, the system of casting money would be the same for all successors. Throughout the Kangxi Dynasty, 24 money-making bureaus were set up throughout the country. Influenced by the problems of foundry cost and coin coinage, each Wen Kangxi coin once weighed four cents, one cents and seven cents respectively, which resulted in three kinds of "Kangxi Tongbao" coins of different weights, large, medium and small, which we see today.

此币正面印有“康熙通宝”四字，以楷书书写，文字端庄稳健，笔画遒劲有力，匀称得体，布局协调，风格神韵凸显，书法价值极高。从上而下而右而左直读，中间有方孔。钱币背面珠圈内以满文书铸币局(宝泉)。此币虽存世已久，但其华贵之风依然难以掩盖，显得优雅而端庄。整体印制规整，钱型厚重，文字美观大方，币面书法笔力挺拔秀美，工笔雕刻细腻，锈色自然流畅，古朴大气，气韵传神，穿孔干净利落，彰显出独树一帜的气貌，是康熙年间钱币铸造的精品。

The front of the coin is printed with the four characters of "Kangxi Tongbao". It is written in regular script, with dignified and stable characters. Its strokes and drawings are powerful, symmetrical and appropriate, its layout is coordinated, its style and charm are prominent, and its calligraphy value is very high. Read directly from top to bottom, right to left, with square holes in the middle. The back of the coin is surrounded by the Manchu Mint Office (Baoquan). Although the currency has existed for a long time, its noble style is still difficult to hide, and it appears elegant and dignified. The whole printing system is regular, the money type is thick, the writing is beautiful, the pen strength of the coin surface calligraphy is straight and elegant, the meticulous carving is exquisite, the rust color is natural and smooth, the primitive atmosphere, the charm is vivid, the perforation is clean and neat, showing a unique style, is the essence of coin casting in Kangxi years.

康熙通宝代表了中国近代的货币文化，反映了我国近代历史、经济、金融的兴衰和沧桑具有很高的艺术观赏价值和文物价值，也具有一定的保值和升值功能。目前民间留存的“康熙通宝”数量不算太多，而且铜不属于贵金属，收藏风险较小，非常适合投资和收藏。
