此花钱为道家太上老君咒语护符花钱，是道士用来施法以降妖震鬼驱邪的载体，也可叫法器。经道士开光后，百姓请回挂于家中镇宅或随身携带保平安。钱币正面中央竖书二十六字咒语“太上咒曰天元地方六律九章符神到处万鬼灭亡急急如律令勒”。左右各一枚护符。背面左侧为天师符，右侧为道教净明派祖师许天师负剑踏蛟而行八卦图。
