Foam Ceramic Roller Kiln is an innovative project, new problems came with new things, and abnormal ware of ceramic rollers is one of them.
Analysis of causes
Heavy Load: For foam ceramic, the product body and its kiln furniture are very heavy. For foam ceramic which size is 1200*2400*100mm, each ceramic roller will bear weight about 11kg, which is a great challenge to the ceramic roller.

Line contact with kiln furniture: The contact width of two silicon carbide guides is 2*74mm compared to 1650mm before, which stress concentration increased to over 11 times.

Heavy load made the ceramic roller bending, meanwhile the line contact made cutting effect is obvious. Also due to the high hardness of silicon carbon guides, which results further wear of the ceramic rollers.

Chemical reaction between the silicon carbon guide and the ceramic roller for close contact. Based on this, roller wear was inevitable.
Product R&D Performance
After above analysis, our technical research department developed FCRI QF99 ceramic roller with low water absorption, high bending strength and high wear resistance in half a year, which is specially used in the production of heavy materials such as foaming ceramic and the kiln in a high corrosive environment. The performance parameters are shown in the following table.

Application of FCRI ceramic roller QF99
From the customers’ actual feedback, QF99 has better performance and better use effect compared with other types of ceramic roller.
(1) QF99 Ceramic roller with low water absorption, high bending strength and high wear resistance, which strength increased by 85%, and the linear wear is 1/3 of DF95.
(2) QF99 Ceramic roller had been proven successfully applied to the lithium battery kiln, the annealing roller kiln for foundry industry, the foaming ceramic roller kiln and the floor tile roller kiln; and customers are satisfied with the use effect.
