Qu Dajun (1630-1696), also known as Jiezi and Wengshan or Laipu. A native of Panyu, Guangdong, with ancestral roots in Zigui, Jinghu North Road. Scholar and poet of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, one of the "Three Great Masters of Lingnan".
Qu Dajun said in Guangdong New Language:
Sweet potato buttercup, produced in Beijiang, is good. Its white color is not suitable for use, so it must be red. The red color contains a lot of gelatinous liquid. Fishermen dye the basket to make the ramie refreshing, which is both beneficial to water and resistant to salt and moisture, and not easy to rot. Sweet potato buttercup gelatinous liquid is originally red, but it turns black when it comes to water. All fish belong to the fire and prefer water, and the color of water is black, so it is in line with the nature of fish. When the basket is dyed, the fish gather in the clouds.
