Malbec's most significant characteristic is its intense dark colour. Its aromas are dominated by fruits such as plums and red berries (cherry and raspberry). The palate can be soft and sweet thanks to its tannins. It is a medium bodied to intense wine, with well balanced acidity.

Some Malbec wines are aged for a long time (18-20 months), but you have to pay to play. Expect to spend around $24+ for Reserva Argentine Malbec and more for US Malbec.

On April 17, 1853, the year in which Malbec arrived in our country, with the support of the governor of Mendoza, Pedro Pascual Segura, a project was presented to the Provincial Legislature, with a view to establishing a Quinta Normal and Agricultural School. This project was approved by the House of Representatives on 6 September that year.
