During my childhood, I often felt happy or sad because of the emotions in my heart. Sometimes I would stare at a place and fall into a sleepless state, but when I was disturbed by the moment and returned to reality, I felt awake and alert.
If I am obedient, then my sister is rebellious and often conflicts with her parents about exercise. She started exercising when she reached adolescence. My obedience and well-behavedness became a good medicine to ease and balance my parents' emotions. I don't know if it was because I grew up in such a conflicting environment, but my personality became gentle and restrained. However, as our two siblings grew up, the situation changed subtly. My sister always stayed with our parents and asked about their welfare, while I often ran around and never came back for a long time. Maybe being sensible and well-behaved in childhood was forced, and you will rebound in some way when you grow up.
When communicating with others, he always looks patient and thoughtful, but there is no way to release the disobedience in his heart, so he keeps denying it in his heart. Maybe it is just like this, that kind of coincidence and sensibility are revealed on the surface, and rebellion takes root. It's inside.

Since ancient times, Guangzhou has been a trading port with the outside world. Commerce and trade are extremely developed, so the latest and most popular commodities in the world are the first to appear here. Therefore, the degree to which Cantonese accept new things is unparalleled in other cities.
But despite this, Cantonese people will not abandon their traditional culture just because they are exposed to new things. Important festivals in modern society, important days in life, and even various details in life are inseparable from various worship rituals. It is an exaggeration to say that no matter what they do, Cantonese always talk about "choosing a good day". This shows that there is an inseparable link between people's social activities and traditional culture. I was born in this city and am an authentic Cantonese. However, in the early days of reform and opening up, the concept of modern cities was a new thing. At that time, they were all village-style layouts, and there were huge differences between villages and cities in terms of scale, operation, and form.
The area in Guangzhou has a subtropical climate, with hot and humid weather all year round. Therefore, the gap between houses is very narrow. Two rows of houses are built opposite each other, forming an alley in the middle. The doors of all houses open to the alley. The alley is also very narrow. Houses are generally built with two floors, so on the first floor of the house Inside, almost every household has a patio to solve the problem of ventilation and lighting. It is usually set at the main entrance. The kitchen, hall and storage room are arranged around it. The space is elevated to the second-floor rooftop, where the sky can be seen. The lighting on the first floor almost comes from the patio. Since the house is a brick wall structure, the size of the windows on the exterior wall is very limited. Even so, the space inside the house is still dark and humid. It is precisely because of the latitude that it is located to avoid the hot weather all year round, so the village form appears like this. The tight layout can prevent the sun from shining into the house from all directions, causing Produce a more dark and cool indoor environment climate.
I lived in a house like this during my childhood, and I can no longer recall my emotions about the space at that time, but this sense of gloomy space is still hard to forget. At that time, some people in the village were relatively wealthy and began to build concrete houses. The concrete structure allowed the windows to be opened wider. If the house faced south, the house would be very bright. I remember that when I was a child, I had a playmate who lived in a house like this. At that time, I often went to his house to play. I loved being in that bright and open space. The floors were all made of smooth ceramic tiles. The craftsmanship of my house was very traditional. Although clay bricks are breathable and natural, their benefits are not felt at all in a dark environment.
At that time, I longed for when I could have a bright house.
Winn is an efficient person, and his efficiency in communicating with me is simply too high! There was almost no turnover during this period, and the design work was carried out as smoothly as a streamlined operation.
The house is an apartment property, so the interior space configuration is slightly different from that of a house. Defects such as a smaller kitchen are commonplace. Winn hopes that the original three-bedroom layout will be changed into two rooms, and the two rooms can be merged or separated according to the situation; in addition, the room and the balcony in the room will be merged with the living room to become a large public area; the kitchen will be combined with the balcony next to it to form an overall kitchen. This almost instantly transforms a house with a construction area of only 150 square meters into a space experience of 300 square meters. The invariable law of sofas against the wall has been broken and replaced by a study area (tea room) combined with the layout of the sofa. The linear movement back and forth becomes a circular movement, and the space becomes extremely spacious and free. Originally, there was a closed and separated kitchen and balcony next to the dining area. After the renovation, it was equipped with an open bar, which increased the depth of the space and introduced more natural light from the outdoors into the originally under-lit dining and kitchen area.
Since television began to become popular in every household in China in the 1990s, television has almost become the protagonist of the living room, and the relationship between sofa and television is even more inseparable. With the breakthrough of TV screen technology, the size of TVs is getting larger and thinner, and this has gradually become a big thing that destroys the living room. In a house with a building area of only 100 square meters, it is practical The area is actually less than 80 square meters. In order to carve out more rooms, the area left for public space is almost the minimum. In the common living room space with a depth of less than four meters and a bay of three meters, then Facing the so-called TV wall, you can really only see the TV and not the wall. Perhaps in an era where entertainment is paramount, people’s eyes, heads and screens are almost as inseparable as Siamese twins.
I'm glad that Winn told me that I don't want a TV. She and her husband usually don't watch TV. Instead of having a TV wall, it would be better to leave more space for books. This coincides with my idea.

"No.1803" was designed in March 2022. It took 18 months from design to construction, of which the construction part accounted for more than 80% of the time, which was far from the expected construction time. The reason may be because of the construction party's Professionalism has resulted in a lot of time being wasted on unnecessary communication, or temporary shutdowns due to the epidemic.
This is the first project that I have participated in construction management. In fact, this is not my job. It is just out of the original intention of helping. However, this is far more complicated and difficult than I imagined. These difficulties are not due to professional skills and In terms of experience, it is more about communication and docking. Maybe this is a good experience, but I hope this is the last time I will participate in such work.
No matter how detailed and professional the drawings are, if the construction party still temporarily calls to ask how to implement such a very unprofessional operation before each stage of construction, it is really blasphemous and irresponsible to the design and work. So no matter out of the original intention of helping or the unshirkable responsibility in the face of crisis, I have to "mind my own business", otherwise it is unimaginable to do the construction without reading the drawings. I am afraid that neither I nor the owner can accept it, so We can only risk the title of "good people doing bad things" and insist on managing to the end.
Sure enough, unsatisfactory things happened as scheduled. The construction process was reversed, construction was not carried out according to the drawings, serious details errors, and many other on-site problems appeared. For a layman like me who is participating in construction management for the first time, technical experience is far less useful than social experience. Although I listen patiently on the surface, compared to those social cows who get along with each other as soon as they meet, I can only It’s like a little white rabbit. Perhaps only by squatting at the construction site every day can we avoid accidents caused by not following the drawings.

Rebel of obedience
Looking at every project I have completed, I almost always add my own ideas after listening to and meeting the needs of the customer. However, this inconsistent approach cannot allow the design to be purely displayed. Therefore, every time I review a completed case, I always feel regret and dissatisfaction.
However, if the only thing you can do is to be obedient and hide your rebellious self, then the design will lose its significance of exploration and breakthrough value. The charm of working in the design industry lies in wandering in the gap between self and demands, and finding the balance between obedience and rebellion in the gap.
