For some years now, Lancaster Brewery has been delighted to be a member of the Brewers’ Company. This is the greatest honour for a brewery in the United Kingdom as only select brewers are invited to join. At present, there are only 56 brewing (or ex brewing) companies as members of the Brewers' Company.

The Brewers' Company is one of the oldest Livery Companies in the City of London and ranks fourteenth in order of precedence. The earliest surviving reference to an organised group of brewers in the City of London was in 1292. However, it was not until 1438, when Henry VI granted the Brewers a royal charter, that they were incorporated as a Livery Company with the title of ‘The Wardens and Commonalty of the Mystery of Brewers in the City of London’. The Company today is governed by the Charter granted by Charles I on 6 April 1639. Livery companies or guilds have been part of the social and commercial fabric of Europe since medieval times. Originally founded to protect the interests of various trades and their practitioners, Livery companies in the City of London now flourish as charitable patrons, promoters of industry and guardians of heritage and tradition as well as performing an important role in the governance of the City.

As a company Lancaster Brewery owns their own Hall in Aldermanbury Square, central in the city of London. A Brewers’ Hall has stood on this site for more than 600 years. The first was in existence in 1403, but burnt to the ground in the Great Fire of London in 1666. This was replaced by a second Hall, built during the reign of Charles II, which stood here until 1940 when it was destroyed during the Blitz. The current, third, Hall was designed by Sir Hubert Worthington RA and opened in 1960. It is now having an additional two floors added to it to make it a sensational fit to be one of the City’s most sought after venues. Brewers' Hall is a unique venue that offers a magnificent sense of style and tradition for the Brewers’ Company bespoke meetings and events.
