
网上前阵子热议的一篇问答叫做《环游世界后的他们都在做什么?》看了题目后我就好奇,他们都是怎么环游的世界,现在又在做什么呢?当然,做空姐是个不错的选择,环游世界和工作两不误。 那么问题来了,”环游世界" 哪家强?作为base在迪拜,开通航线最多的阿联酋航空公司(Emirates)是许多CC梦寐以求的地方。机缘巧合,我们采访到了一位女神级的姑娘——Nancy, 一位曾经在阿联酋航空任职的空姐,和我们分享了她在EK的经历。

初见Nancy是在王府井的一家咖啡厅,远远看到她便看到了Emirates那招牌式的笑容,热情,温暖,富有亲和力。作为一个出生在上海,成长在日本,又在洛杉矶度过了最美好的大学时代的姑娘,她讲着一口流利的日语,说着地道的英文,而Nancy本身也是一个集合多元文化于一身的个体,这也是她与Emirates契合的一个重要原因。

在阿联酋航空工作感觉最享受的是什么?
Nancy:EK真的是一家很活泼的公司,这里有150多个不同国籍的乘务员一起工作,同时因为base在迪拜,而迪拜又是个集合多元文化为一体的城市,所以这份工作让我感受到了更为丰富的人生。在这里你要学会包容,多元化的文化背景让teamwork变得很有意思,也很有挑战。但这非常锻炼自己,也慢慢学会了如何去包容不同的文化。更吸引人的人的是,EK有100多条航线,如果你想飞,可以全都飞一遍,也有人真的做到了。
What was the most enjoyable experience you had working with Emirates?
Nancy: Emirates is a unique company and its cabin crew come from over 120 countries. As it’s based in Dubai, the company culture as well as the living environment is very dynamic, cosmopolitan and full of passion. Meanwhile, there are significant challenges you should be prepared to face. Working with colleagues with different backgrounds, culture and religion means that you have to be open minded and tolerant. With over 150 destinations, Emirates is definitely the right place to realize your dream of traveling around the world.

如何成为一名阿联酋航空的乘务员?
Nancy:EK的面试还是比较复杂的,要从初选,小组讨论,笔试,到最后的一对一final,大概需要3天左右的时间,之后通过体检要求才可以进入公司。但是千万不要以为进入公司就万事大吉了,到了迪拜还需要两个月的培训,公司会从安全,服务等各方面将你训练成为一名合格的Emirates 。
How can I be a flight attendant for the Emirates?
Nancy: The interview process of Emirates is anything but simple. It takes at least three days to complete an interview with Emirates: Open Day, Assessment Day which includes group discussion and English exam, and one on one Final interview.Once you receive the offer letter and pass the health exam, you officially become one of the Emirates cabin crew. However, for every new joiner, there awaits a 2 month training including security, medical, service, etc. You have to pass countless exams and jump slides before you can work on an airplane.

阿联酋航空的乘务员是怎么飞的?
Nancy:在这里,每个月的飞行小时数大概是90左右,都是由迪拜起飞。一个月大概也要4-5班,几乎都是国际航线,所以倒时差也确实是个难题。很多人一开始也会不习惯,我觉得最好的办法就是听从自己身体的指挥,而不是严格遵守时间表,饿了就吃,困了就睡,这样会更轻松。
What's the usually flying schedule?
Nancy: At Emirates, each cabin crew works for about 90 hours per month with 4 to 5 destinations. Since all the flights are international, jet lag is definitely one of the hardest challenges we encounter. For me the best solution is to listen to my body. I’ll eat whenever I’m hungry and go to bed if I feel sleepy. You have to stop fighting against it in order to get used to it.

在阿联酋航空,空乘的晋升是如何实现的?
Nancy:大概2年左右可以晋升到商务舱,再3年就可以去头等舱,如果要做到乘务长大概也要7年到8年吧。当然,这和公司的发展也有着很大的关系,如果公司一直扩大规模进飞机,乘务员的需求量扩大,晋升就会快一点,反之,就会慢咯。
what is the promotion procedure for Emirates Cabin crew?
Nancy: Everyone starts from Economy and it takes about two years to be promoted to Business. Hopefully three years or more you’ll get to First Class. If you want to be a Purser, it might take 7 to 8 years. However, the timeline depends on how fast the Company is expanding. For example, if Emirates keeps buying new airplanes, then the demand for cabin crew increases as well. As a result, it will be much easier and faster to get promoted and vice versa.

很多人都说找个外航的空姐女朋友,聚少离多,那要如何维系感情的呢?
Nancy:我和我的男朋友就是在迪拜认识的(羞涩),不过追一个空姐确实是很辛苦的,因为是要追着飞机飞,但是现在科技这么发达,即便相隔万里也可以随时聊天,视频。像我男朋友会在得知我的飞行计划后会第一时间发当地的天气预报给我。他会尽量飞到我在得城市“探班”,在一起了以后,他也会来迪拜看我,我也尽可能的去他的城市陪他。总之啦,真爱就一定会在一起的。
How to maintain the relationship with cabin crew?
Nancy: Maintaining a relationship with cabin crew is probably the toughest task, but with all the technology available today, messaging or video chatting has never been easier. I met my boyfriend when I was working with Emirates. He was very sweet and always sent me weather forecast wherever I flew to. He always tried his best to meet me at the destination and I would fly to his city during my days off. Long distance is never easy, but love conquers all, right?

听说你现在离开了EK,那么又在做什么呢?
Nancy:我之前在美领馆工作了一段时间,当时领导就说我在接待不同的来访者的时候有着特别亲切的微笑,他说了之后我才发现。我想这应该就是做空姐使我养成的一个很好的习惯吧。所以说,每一段工作的收获,都在不知不觉中融合成你自己的一部分。我现在在做外航空姐的培训,就是希望可以帮助更多的想去外航工作的女孩子们实现她们的梦想,也是一种成就感。另外我也在攻读工商管理硕士学位(MBA),不断地尝试新的挑战,提升自己,这也是我一直坚持的事情。
What are you doing after you left Emirates?
Nancy: After I left Emirates, I came back home to Shanghai and started to work for the U.S. Consulate for a while. During that time, my boss was quite satisfied with my work performance because I always had a big smile when I talked to people. I didn't notice that until he pointed it out but I guess it's a good habit that I got from my previous job. What you gain from the past always becomes the treasure in present. Now, I am running a professional training academy for those who want to become cabin crew for international airlines. I wish I could share my experience and knowledge to help them to realize their dreams. Also, I will be receiving my MBA degree this fall. Life is too short to be anything but ordinary, so why not live it to the fullest.

有人说“空姐是青春饭”这件事,你怎么看?
Nancy:其实这种说法比较片面,因为真的有很多人可以飞到40岁50岁,这种情况在外航十分普遍。有的人甚至在迪拜成家定居了。当然,每个人都有自己想走的路。但不得不承认,年轻的时候做一名空姐会给你以后想要从事的职业带来更多的经验和收获。比如我现在做培训,就可以以自己的亲身经历去讲解,帮助想要从事这份工作的人。有很多人在我的帮助下去了外航,也有的人去了外企,我觉得这都和我做乘务员的经历的是分不开的。
Some people say you can only be cabin crew when you are young, what do you think?
Nancy: I have to say that I cannot agree with this statement. Many of my former colleagues are still working as flight attendants after they turned 40 or even 50 years old. Certainly everyone has his or her own career plan, but I believe that being cabin crew is absolutely a unique and beneficial experience. Traveling to so many countries and working with people from different countries changed me in a way that I’ve never foreseen. Now I can utilize my experience to coach my students to help them realize their dreams.
