We are honoured to have been invited to the Gender Equality Forum jointly organized by the Swedish Embassy, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and BATURU Cultural Festival dedicated to advocating women’s rights. At the forum, Britney Pai, Chief Growth Officer of dentsu Creative China and Isobar Group China and Christina Knight, the author of Mad Women: A Herstory of Advertising, and Helena Westin, chairperson at Swedish Association of Communication Agencies shared their experiences as female advertising professionals and exchanged views on gender equality in commercial advertising. We are lucky to witness the creativity and influence of female power in advertising in China and globally.

To promote gender equality, dentsu as a global leader in media and digital communications, has globally increased the number of female in our senior leadership roles to 32% in 2019, an increase of 2% compared to 2018. In dentsu China, 33% of senior leadership roles in 2020 are females and the number of female above ACD levels has reached 47%. Dentsu is committed to achieving 40% females in senior leadership and beyond.
Isobar, as a part of dentsu, has launched the Global Diversity Charter on International Women's Day in 2020, a document codifying the actions and beliefs that drive equality at work and in society in our culture of openness and inclusion. The Global Diversity Charter focuses on equality issues regarding race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation and disability, while gender equality is the starting point for Isobar to create a diverse atmosphere, and also the important engine to accelerate innovation and inspire creativity.
The Global Diversity Charter has been promoted in Isobar’s 85 offices across 45 countries and regions, with a commitment to changing the unequal gender representation and to tackling the gender pay gap. We aim to explore a modern and inclusive approach to parental leave, offering greater flexibility as our people enter parenthood. For example, in Canada, Isobar has worked hard to tackle the gender divide in hiring practices by removing pro-nouns "he" or "she" from CVs and creating all gender washrooms. This approach has resulted in elevating the ratio of female candidates from 30% to 70% over the past couple of years. To protect women's rights, Isobar India has set up a Women's Council to provide support to female employees in flexible working hours, maternity, and harassment issues.
