Kazuki Tsuburaku, Chief Experience Officer of DENTSU CREATIVE China, joined the panelof the 6th “Innovation and Co-Creation” Sino-Japanese Enterprise Innovation Cooperation Forum. Assembling approximately 200 senior scholars and industry experts from bilateral governments, universities, research institutions and enterprises, the forum is co-hosted by the Center for Japanese Studies at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Consulate-General of Japan in Shanghai. Themed “The Sino-Japanese Comparison of Web 3.0 and NFT Policies and the Metaverse Economy,” the panel discussion elaborated on the prospective bilateral collaborations in the virtual world. Exchanged views from Kaz and other entrepreneurs indicated that despite China and Japan having different patterns of metaverse business models, demands, and issues, Japan’s strength in content production of games and animes and China’s leadership in the robot and 5G industries can complement each other. Therefore, diverse business opportunities exist to drive the application and accomplishment of metaverse technologies as well as entertainment IP development. “While Japanese enterprises hope to pivot and leverage around China’s great market potential in the metaverse, Chinese enterprises could learn the mechanism and management of metaverse copyrights,” said Kaz. “This forum definitely imbues possibilities and impetus for future Sino-Japanese metaverse co-creation.” The forum also presented metaverse infrastructures, correlated technologies and applied scenarios, spotlighting the openness and compliance in the innovation and practice of China’s Web 3.0, the bilateral regulatory market trends, IoT, Digital Twins and some cases in the metaverse. The metaverse economy has become a global and epoch-marking topic. To drive digital transformation in Asia, China has launched the Digital Silk Road Initiative and the Blockchain Information Service Management as part of its virtual-to-real economic strategy and is drafting measures to regulate generative AI. On the other hand, Japan has established a digital chamber, published NFT whitepapers, developed the world’s first regulatory framework for stablecoins, and proposed the blueprint for Society 5.0.
