金秋十月，碩果累累。商務印書館（香港）有限公司正式推出「睿創學術系列」（Sapientia Academic Series）出版計劃，以學術水準及出版價值為依歸，將具創見的本地博士研究成果改編出版。
上世紀30年代，在高等教育騰飛發展之際，香港商務策劃了「大學叢書」，「期收全國學者通力合作之效」，「促進我國的學術獨立」，「叢書」作者有馮友蘭、王力、錢端升、薩本棟等，體現了香港商務「昌明教育，弘揚文化」的精神。香港商務1914年創立，植根本地，深耕文化，先後出版了「玖什叢書」和「八道叢書」，以及何炳棣、啟功、蘇秉琦、陳從周等名家大作；近年的「商務學術思想書系」薈萃了王賡武、林毓生、科大衛等重要著作，可說學術出版綿延不息，為香港學術文化發展留下光輝足跡。

歲月易逝，初心不改。2021年，香港商務印書館提出「啟路求新」，以「大教育」為定位，聚焦於語言學習、人文社科、藝術歷史三大出版領域，展示學術成果。「睿創學術系列」就是這一發展戰略的具體體現，商務有以下三大期望：
「睿創學術系列」旨在彙聚創新性研究，助力香港青年學者成長。系列涉及人文、社科、歷史等各前沿領域，將有創見與出版價值的學術論文改編成專著，是進入學術殿堂的起點，也是學術發展的重要支點，有助激勵青年學者從事創新研究，推動本地學術水準與活力。
「睿創學術系列」旨在支持學術成果轉移。「深耕香港，注重原創」一直是香港商務堅守的出版使命；香港商務與專家顧問合作，挑選「重要話題」與「最新成果」的研究論文，改編為便於閱讀的學術專著，做好普及與引領。
「睿創學術系列」旨在為香港學術研究提供傳播渠道。透過紙本與電子書出版，經由各種發行渠道，香港商務期望能夠將香港的研究成果帶進其他地區的大學圖書舘，積極爭取與境外的版權合作，為推動香港發展成為中外文化藝術交流中心而努力。

從來出版與學術都是共同體，出版是推動學術創新的重要手段。在商業經營的前提下，香港商務願撥出一定資源，推出「睿創學術系列」，回饋文化。我們有志將「系列」塑造成為學術品牌，在眾多優秀的研究成果優中選優，引發學術爭鳴，激發學術活力。
香港商務敢於成為香港學術的出版與傳播平台，樂於擔當文化職責，勇於展現學術情懷。在「睿創學術系列」發佈之時，我們懇請學術界朋友多給指導，廣泛傳播，積極推薦，共同完成這項香港學術出版願景。

Launching of “Sapientia Academic Series”
The Commercial Press was founded in 1897, specializing in academic publication in the fields of humanities, language, education and social science. In line with our tradition, we are eager to launch the “Sapientia Academic Series” this October.
Under this academic series, we are looking for local latest PhD dissertations with high academic standard as well as publishing value. It would be, we believe, a good channel for fresh PhD graduates to demonstrate their talents, to display their research acumen, and to exchange ideas with other scholars.
The 1930s was a high time of swift development for tertiary education in China. The Commercial Press was apt in catching the tide and published books for the burgeoning readership. At the time we published the “University Series”, with the expectation to seek assistance from the top scholars around China, and at the same time realize academic independence for China. The authors within the series included leading scholars like Feng Youlan, Wang Li, Qian Duansheng, Sa Bendong, etc. This showed clearly we sought and advocated educational and cultural advancement for China. Commercial Press (HK) Ltd. was founded in Hong Kong in 1914. We have a long history dedicating to cultural betterment. In realizing this vision, we published “Jiushi (90’s) Series” and “Badao Series”. Our authors include a lot of prestigious scholars like Ho Ping-ti, Qi Gong, Su Bingqi, Chen Congzhou,etc. In the past few years, we have published the important works of Wang Gungwu, Lin Yusheng and David Faure. By publishing these books, we hope we can contribute to the academic scene of Hong Kong and leave impressive footprints.
In 2021, we take “innovation” and “great education” as our development road maps. We focus on language learning, humanities, art and history as three of our strategic fields, with the aim to illustrate the latest academic achievement of the scholarly circle. “Sapientia Academic Series” is the realization of such strategy. Our expectations are as follows:
First of all, it targets at innovative researches and assists the development of Hong Kong young scholars. The proposed series would cover fields like humanities, social science and history. We would transform outstanding researches with both insight and publishing value into books. This would be, we believe, the very start of stepping into the academic world. We also believe it would prove to be an invaluable experience to fledging scholars. This would serve to inspire and give encouragement to them.
Secondly, it aims to facilitate knowledge transfer. We take publishing Hong Kong studies and original researches as our core mission. We will work closely with specialists in various fields to select dissertations on worthy and frontier topics. We will transform them into readable form, hoping that it would reach a wider readership.
Thirdly, it serves to provide a good channel for the academic research of Hong Kong. Through traditional publishing and e-publishing, we hope that the latest researches would be able to access overseas libraries via our extensive networks. We are also actively engaging in copyright cooperation with overseas companies, in the hope that our publications could reach potential readers outside Hong Kong.
Publication and academic research can never go separately. In order to further academic development, we are always willing to help. This is our belief that we can achieve something. We are determined to develop the series into a cultural brand by choosing the best researches. We sincerely hope that we can inspire more researches of high-quality in the future.
