在英语中，我们经常会遇到这样的表达：
明明每个单词都认识，可翻译过来就是不对。
比如，无忧君今天要说的：“Are you there?”
当看到“Are you there”时，你会怎么理解呢？
可能有小伙伴就会说了：
那还不简单，“there”是“那里”的意思，“Are you there”当然就是“你在那里吗？”的意思了。
不好意思，还真不是！
“Are you there”，常用于当你不确定对方是否在听你讲话，而主动询问对方有没有在听的时候，多见于电话沟通的场景。
它真正的意思，其实是“你在吗？你在听吗？”
Ruth, lovey, are you there?
鲁思，宝贝，你在吗？
Are you really there?
你真的有在听吗？
Are you there, Detective?
If so, you are probably the last man standing.
你在听吗，侦探?
在的话，你就是最后的赢家了。
这里，还有一个它的同义表达：
Are you listening to me? 你在听我说吗？
Hey, are you listening to me?
嘿，你有在听我讲话吗？

既然“Are you there”不是“你在那吗？”的意思，那正确表达应该怎么说呢？
可以用“Were you there? ”来表达，表示“（当时）你在那儿吗？”，用的是过去时态，因为问对方的事情发生在过去。
When were you there last?
你最近一次在那里是什么时候？
It must have been very crowded when you were there.
你在那儿的时候一定很拥挤。

1.There you are
“Are you there”之外，“There you are”也是一句非常常用的口语，直译过来是“你在那儿”，但在很多场景里，并非表示此意。
首先，它的意思类似于“Here you are”，即“给你，这就是你想要的东西、就是这个”。
如：
There you are. The green pen.
给你，你要的绿色笔。
其次，它的第二种常见意思，可以表示“又被我抓到了，怎么又是你”。
如：
There you are. I know you will do that again.
看吧，我就知道你还会这么做。
还有，它还可以用来表示“你对了、你就到了”。
如：
Go straight and then turn right and there you are. 直走，然后右拐，你就到了。
2.There you go
千万不要把这个表达理解成了“请这边走”。
“There you go”，是“You go there”的倒装形式，表示“你(you)达到了（go)某种目的或结果（there)”，即进入了某种状态。
根据语境来看，它是一个多义表达。
第一层含义是：“给你”。
这层意思的英文释义为：
used when giving something to someone, usually after a request for the thing, such as giving someone goods that they have bought.
把某物给某人，通常是在需求之后，例如将某人购买的物品给某人。
Emily: How much is this book?
Emily：这本书怎么卖？
Jeffrey: It’s 27.
Jeffrey: 27块。
Emily: There you go.
Emily: 给。
Jeffery：Thank you. Do you need anything else?
Jeffrey: 谢谢。您还需要其它东西吗？
Emily: Nope. Thank you!
Emily:不用了，谢谢！
第二层含义是：“那就对了、你说对了”，本质意思即你得到了正确的答案。
在这里，there you go = you go to the right answer = you finally got the right answer.
Ah well there you go.
那就对了。
第三层含义是：“就是这样了”，本质意思即对一件虽然事情不满意，但目前也没办法改变，只能暂时接受。
The company is short of hands, but there you go= there it is. This is the peak season.
公司很缺人，但也没办法，现在是旺季。
We didn't win the competition, but there you go - we can always try again next year.
我们没有赢得比赛，就是这样了，我们明年还可以再试一次。
第四层含义是：“你又来了”，本质意思即你又做了你之前做过的事情。
There you go - I knew you'd forget if you didn't write it down.
看吧，你又来了，我知道你不记下来就会忘记的。
A: Let’s talk about computer. 我们讨论一下电脑吧。
B: There you go (again). 你又来了。
A: Our boss requested us to work overtime today. 老板要我们今天加班。
B: There he goes again. 他又来这一套了。
此外，“There you go”还可以用来表示“哦，是这样呀、就这样的、我说对了吧、你做对了”等含义。
3.There you go again
字面意思是“你又来了”，但实际上，它表达的意思却是“你又来这一套”，多指那些讨人嫌的的行为。
There you go again—jumping to conclusions.
你又犯老毛病了：匆匆下结论。
"There you go again, upsetting the child!" said Shirley.
“你又来折腾孩子了！”雪莉说道。
4.You don't go there
字面意思是“你别去那里”，但真实意思其实是“你别跟我提这个事！”
Have you bought a house？
你买房了吗？
Don't go there.
