Job Description:
Research Analyst/Engineer, Search Quality

The Role:
We are seeking an outstanding research analyst/engineer to design and implement research studies and analytical tools. This critical work will help us to deepen our understanding of how our users search, and to find opportunities to improve our search features and technology. This is expected to include research that involves judgment of search quality by users.
Essential Responsibilities:
Design and conduct studies to discover how users succeed and fail in their search activities.
Perform analysis of data, discover new insights, and communicate those insights to the rest of the product development team and management.
Design, build and improve analytical tools for investigating user search behavior.
Skills and Experience:
M.S., Ph.D., or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Statistics, Human-Computer Interaction, or other related field
3+ years as a Research Analyst/Engineer, or related
Experience in analysis of user data from web-based and/or mobile products, in experimental design and interpretation of experimental results, and in the building of analytical tools
Skills in common programming languages, such as Java or Python, and in common analytical tools, such as R or Excel.
Experience in large-scale data mining using Hadoop
Strong written and oral communication skills
Nice to have skills:
Experience with search products, features, and technologies.
Experience in designing experiments involving human judgment and/or crowdsourcing.
Experience in competitive analysis.
Skills in web-based and/or mobile product design
