24/7 On Call Interpreter Volunteer
湖北省，一片诞生英雄城市的荆楚之地，
自新冠疫情以来，这人杰地灵的千湖之省，
率先接受了最严峻的考验。
五千八百多万人里，也包括了20,000名外籍人士，
在按下紧急“暂停键”后，以让世界惊叹的速度强势复苏，
为全国乃至全世界的抗疫做出了前所未有的表率。
自2019年年底以来，一场突如其来的疫情打乱了我们每个人的生活节奏，
而近期奥密克戎的爆发，湖北省作为抗疫“前辈”，
也不断地对需要的省市主动支援，守望相助。
而在湖北的抗疫经验中，近两万人的外籍群体，
不乏出现因语言不通而无法与防疫人员进行有效交流的两难困境。
彼时，身兼数职的防疫人员在面临紧张的疫情局势之外，
也面临着因语言差异带来的种种困难:
“你好，我是防疫工作人员，请您到指定位置进行核酸检测”

为此，我们的“语言大白”来了!
华中科技大学外国语学院、同济大学人工智能语言研究院
和Trans On以及29所在鄂高校外语学院
共同发起「华鄂译心，语言大白志愿者」行动，
为在湖北省的防疫工作人员及外籍人士，
招募了一众同传志愿者，在此次公益活动中提供
多语言的免费翻译服务，贡献一份微薄的力量。
志愿服务所涉及的语种包括：
中英、中德、中法、中日、中韩、中西、中俄，中阿，中葡。

Hubei Province, the land of the heroic city,
has taken the lead in facing the most severe challenges
since the outbreak of COVID-19.
The emergency "pause button" were pressed among 58 million people, including 20,000 foreign nationals,
but was soon recovered at a speed that amazed the entire world.
Hubei set an unprecedented example for China and even the entire world in epidemic prevention.
Since the end of 2019, a sudden outbreak of COVID-19
has disrupted the regular pace of everyone's life.
In the recent outbreak of Omicron,
Hubei Province, as the predecessor of fighting against the epidemic,
has been actively supporting and helping other provinces and cities in need.
Through previous experiences, Hubei found that
language barrier is one of the major difficulties to be overcome
by community staff in daily epidemic prevention and control,
hence,
the multilingual interpreting service is developed:

Therefore, here comes the
AnyCall Interpreter volunteer!
The initiative is jointly launched by
Huazhong University of Science and Technology
School of Foreign Languages, Tongji Academy of Artificial Intelligence and Language Education
and TransOn, with 29 Schools of Foreign Languages,
for the communication between saff
and foreigners from all over the world in Hubei.
