Dunhuang tourist daily reception surges by 1230.88% during Lunar New Year

As the Lunar New Year holiday enters its second half, the tourism market in Dunhuang continues to heat up, with visitors doubling in numbers. It is the peak of the first wave of tourist flows in 2024.
According to the statistics from the cultural and tourism department of Dunhuang, on Feb 14, the six major scenic spots in Dunhuang received a total of 25,340 visitors, representing a staggering 1230.88 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.

The cumulative number of visitors during Spring Festival reached 228,700, achieving a breakthrough in the reception of visitors during the holiday.

Within the Mogao Grottoes, visitors patiently queued for tickets before entering the caves for exploration. The vibrant cave murals, enigmatic Buddhist stories, graceful Dunhuang flying apsaras, and awe-inspiring artistic treasures left both domestic and international visitors amazed and full of praise.

At the Crescent Spring scenic area, tourists from all over the world hiked the mountains, rode camels for photos, and fully immersed themselves in the beauty of the desert, enjoying a delightful time during Spring Festival holiday.
Since Dec 1, 2023, Dunhuang has implemented a series of winter and spring tourism preferential policies, optimizing and enriching the supply of tourism products, comprehensively enhancing service quality, and further activating the winter and spring tourism market.
