Over 26 million tourists visited Gansu during the National Day holiday

The 2024 National Day holiday saw Gansu province welcoming 26.21 million tourists, and generating tourism revenue of 16.08 billion yuan ($2.23 billion). These figures represent year-on-year increases of 15.4 percent and 18.8 percent respectively. Throughout the province, a festive atmosphere prevailed, with diverse tourism products and a thriving, orderly market.
During the holiday period, Gansu's tourism market exhibited three notable characteristics. Firstly, the National Day celebrations imbued tourist attractions with deep patriotic significance. Dunhuang's Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake hosted a grand "10,000-person starlight concert," while Jiayuguan Fortress enhanced its night light show with special National Day elements, creating a strong patriotic ambiance.

Diverse services slao shaped new tourism trends. Zhangye Danxia Landform organized fashion shows and Han costume performances, while Pingliang's Kongtong Mountain introduced immersive exhibitions. The province's 5A-rated scenic spots and Mogao Grottoes received 1.1 million visitors, with Maiji Mountain Scenic Area seeing a 47.91 percent increase in visitors. Museums in Gansu attracted nearly 1.7 million visitors, while rural tourism and night tours gained significant popularity.

In addition, integrated activities stimulated consumption. Wuwei launched 29 themed "Check-in Liangzhou" activities across 8 major categories. Gaotai county in Zhangye organized a "Traverse the Populus Euphratica Forest" walk, while Dunhuang held a Gobi Desert challenge, adding vibrancy to the holiday tourism market.
According to a report released by Ctrip on Monday, Gansu's top attractions included Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake, Mogao Grottoes, Zhangye Danxia Landform, Jiayuguan Fortress, Zhagana, Encore Dunhuang, Shuimo Danxia Scenic Area, Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon, Gansu Provincial Museum, and Maijishan Grottoes.
